The Yale Bulldogs will go for their third win in a row when they take on the Connecticut Huskies on Friday. Last season, the Huskies were able to defeat the Bulldogs 80-62 in Connecticut.
Yale has now won seven of their first nine games after defeating Bryant 67-60 on the road on Wednesday night. They made 46 percent of their shots as a team in that win, and they finished with a 38-28 rebounding advantage.
So far this season, Yale's offense has only given up 61.2 points per game to opposing offenses. Their go-to player through nine games has been junior forward Justin Sears, who is averaging 15.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for them. Senior guard Javier Duren has also had a good start to the year by averaging 14.9 points and 5.9 boards per game.
After starting out with three straight wins to open the season, Connecticut has now lost two in a row after losing 55-54 to #7 Texas last Sunday. They made just 30 percent of their field goal attempts in that loss and could only sink three of their 16 three-point attempts.
The Huskies have grabbed 36.8 rebounds per game this season while only allowing their opponents to average 26.2 rebounds per game. Senior guard Ryan Boatright has been Connecticut's best player through five games by averaging 20.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and four assists per game.
