The Marquette Golden Eagles will matchup with the Xavier Musketeers in the quarterfinals of the Big East Conference Tournament on Thursday night. When these two teams last met, Marquette was able to protect their homecourt against Xavier by winning 81-72. Jake Thomas led the Golden Eagles with 18 points, two rebounds and two assists on the night. He was helped by Jamil Wilson who added 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal. It was the first time this season that Marquette had won three in a row.

Marquette had a 10 point run in the first half that put them up 19-8. The Golden Eagles stayed strong in the half and went into halftime with a 39-29 lead. Come the second half, the Musketeers got to within five of the Golden Eagles with a Myles Davis three point shot with around 11 minutes to go. Marquette came back with eight points of their own and then Justin Martin helped the Musketeers make one more run by bringing them within four points with two minutes left. Marquette was able to close the game out at the free throw line.

Justin Martin led the Musketeers with 20 points, seven rebounds and an assist. Myles Davis added 12 points, three rebounds and an assist.
