In the first round of the PAC 12 conference tournament the Washington Huskies will be facing the Utah Utes in Las Vegas. The last time these two teams met, the Utes were able to hold off the Huskies at home by a score of 78-69.
Jordan Loveridge led the Utes with 16 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Utah was able to end a three game losing streak in this one.
The Huskies were leading 51-49 at one point in the second half before the Utes put the clamps on and held Washington without a field goal for almost six minutes and scored 13 points during the Husky drought. Washington was able to get the game within four points behind a Desmond Simmons score and brought it to 67-63 with under two minutes to go. The Utes' Brandon Taylor then hit a 3-pointer and ended the rally by Washington.
The Utes had more turnovers than the Huskies but Washington's turnovers came at key times when they had opportunities to make the game close. During an important stretch in the second half, the Huskies missed six straight shots and turned the ball over five different times.
Utah was able to capitalize and closed the game out.
Taylor ended the game with 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Delon Wright added 19 points, four rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block for the Utes.
Washington was led by C.J. Wilcox with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block. They also got contributions out of Nigel Williams-Goss with 19 points, three rebounds, an assist and a block.
