Saturday afternoon, the Vanderbilt Commodores will face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Vanderbilt Commodores needed a late rally to get past the Western Carolina Catamounts 99 -79 on Tuesday night. The Commodores faced an early and unexpected challenge from the Catamounts in the 1^st half. Western Carolina led for most of that opening half and took a 3 point lead into the break. In the 2^nd half, the Commodores regained their form. By the midway point of the 2^nd half, Vanderbilt had taken over the game. The Commodores shot 55% overall and 47% from 3-point distance as they were led by Riley LaChance and his career high 26 points. Western Carolina probably dealt Vanderbilt a needed wakeup call as they enter a game against a formidable opponent.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets didn't experience as much trouble in their Monday night game as they dispatched the Appalachian State Mountaineers 70 - 57. Appalachian State started well and that might have thrown Georgia Tech slightly off balance. But before the 1^st half came to an end, the Yellow Jackets put down the resistance to lead by 11 points. The Mountaineers came close in the beginning of the 2^nd half but they couldn't stop the Yellow Jackets from pulling away and sealing the win. Georgia Tech was paced by Marcus Georges-Hunt and his 15 points as the Yellow Jackets shot 44% overall. Georgia Tech will have to keep Vanderbilt from getting a good start if they want to get the win.
