Tuesday afternoon, the Runnin' Utes of Utah will take on the Aztecs of San Diego State. Both teams will bring 1 -0 records into this matchup.

The Utah Runnin' Utes had a tougher than expected game against the Ball State cardinals in their season opener on Friday night but they escaped with a 90 - 72 win. The game was tight in the early going and at the half; Utah was up by just 5 points. But the Utes cut down on the turnovers, controlled the paint and out rebounded the Aztecs as the game came to a close. The brief scare will obviously help the Utes get closer to form early in the season. Utah was led by Brandon Taylor and his 19 points along with 18 point efforts from Jordan Loveridge and Jakob Poeltl.

The San Diego State Aztecs had an easier time of it as they knocked off the Cal State Northridge Matadors 79 - 58 in their opener last Friday night. The Aztecs continued their winning streak over California based schools as they broke open a 20 point lead at the half. The Matadors never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way. The Aztecs shot 50% from the field, 65% from the free throw line and 30% from beyond the arc. San Diego State's Aqeel Quinn posted 15 points against his former team to lead the Aztecs. The Aztecs will need the same type of effort when they take on Utah because the Utes won't be so easy to dispatch.
