Tuesday night, the Massachusetts Minutemen will take on the LSU Tigers.  

The Massachusetts Minutemen had a lead in their last game against the Harvard Crimson but Harvard came back to deal the Minutemen a 75 - 73 loss.  UMass led for most of the 1st half but they were never able to really stretch out against Harvard.  A last second 3-pointer gave the Minutemen a 6 point lead at the half but that lead would not hold up in the 2nd half.  The Crimson came out in the 2nd half pressing the Minutemen at every turn and the game went back and forth the rest of the way.  After Harvard took the lead with seconds left, UMass missed a 3-pointer that would have given them the win.  The Minutemen were paced by Cady Lalanne and his 13 points as they shot 48% from the field and 44% from the distance. If Harvard was a challenge for UMass, LSU could end up being a tougher opponent.

The LSU Tigers slipped past the McNeese State Cowboys 83 – 72 in their last game on Saturday night.  The Tigers opened the game on a 14 - 2 run and it looked like this one would turn into a rout.  But the Cowboys hung in there and battle back to make it a 39 - 39 game at the half.  Early in the 2nd half, it was a close game with neither team giving an inch.  But the Tigers found a way to pull away just enough to put the game out of reach for the Cowboys.  The Tigers were led by Jarell Martin and his career high 26 points as they shot 54% from the field.  The Tigers will probably make sure that they don’t let a team come back on them like the Cowboys did again.
