Thursday night, the UConn Huskies will take on the Duke Blue Devils.

The UConn Huskies finally looked like the defending National Champions on Sunday afternoon as they ran over the Coppin State Eagles 106 – 85.  Coming into that game, UConn was in a 3 game losing streak and there seemed to be no answers for the slide.  But the Huskies quieted some of the naysayers with a 13 -2 run to open the game.  By the half, UConn was up 51 – 39 and they looked like the Huskies of old.  UConn continued to pour it on in the 2nd half by starting with a 10 - 0 run that basically put Coppin State out of it.  The Huskies were led by Amida Brimah and his 40 point effort as UConn shot 56% from the field.   The Huskies will look to put together the same type of effort as they face a Duke team that is ranked #2 in the nation.

The Duke Blue Devils improved their record to 9 -0 with a 75 -62 win over the Elon Phoenix on Monday night.  The Blue Devils never gave the Phoenix a chance early on as they started with a 15 - 2 run.  At the half, the Blue Devils were up by 15 points and it didn’t look like the Phoenix would be rising in the 2nd half.  Duke continued their dominance in the 2nd half and never relinquished their double-digit advantage.  The Blue Devils shot 51% from the field as they were paced by Jahlil Okafor’s season high 25 points.  Beating Elon is one thing but Duke will face a much tougher opponent in UConn and will need another big night from Okafor and company to remain undefeated.
