Wednesday afternoon, the UCLA Bruins will take on the Oklahoma Sooners. 

The UCLA Bruins encountered some resistance in their last game against the Long Beach State 49ers but the Bruins came away with a 77 - 63 win.  UCLA took control early on and as they went into the half, they had a 42 – 31 lead.  But the 49ers gave the Bruins some trouble in the 2nd half.  Long Beach State made a game of it and made it just a 5 pint game with 3 minutes left before UCLA pulled away one last time.  The numerous turnovers that the 49ers made caught up with them as UCLA got 25 points off 19 Long Beach State turnovers.  The Bruins also got double digit scoring from all five starters but were led by Norman Powell and his 24 points. But UCLA only shot 40 % from the field and they will need a better night than that to get past Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Sooners cruised past the Northwestern State Demons for a 90 - 68 win last Sunday afternoon.  Poor shooting led to the Sooners’ first loss of the season, and this time Oklahoma focused on getting the ball in the basket.  The Sooners had a 20 point advantage at the half and even though the game tightened up in the 2nd half, they still came away with the win.  Overall, Oklahoma shot 50% while shooting 47% from 3-point range.  If Oklahoma resumes their solid shooting against UCLA, this could end up being a close game.
