Sunday afternoon, the #7 Texas Longhorns will take on the #24 Connecticut Huskies.

The Texas Longhorns improved to 5 - 0 after thoroughly beating the St. Francis Red Flash 78 -46 on Tuesday night.  St. Francis won the opening tip but that was really the only thing that went their way in this one.  Texas scored the first points of the game and they were never really threatened and never trailed.  At the half, the Longhorns led 36 -23 and they comfortably held a double-digit lead throughout the 2nd half.  Texas shot 57% from the field and 50% from 3-point land as St. Francis shot just 31% and 23% respectively.  While the Red Flash was easy to get past, the Longhorns know that the Huskies will not be such an easy opponent to get a handle on.

The Connecticut Huskies last played a week ago and although they will come in well rested, they should also come in a little wiser.  The Huskies got victimized by the West Virginia Mountaineers 78 – 68 in a stunning upset that gave the Huskies their first loss of the season.  The defending champions didn’t look that great as the Mountaineers took the early lead and kept the Huskies at bay for the 1st half.  West Virginia led 47 - 32 and they never let UConn get closer than 6 points in the 2nd half. Although the Huskies shot 45% overall, they shot just 17% from beyond the arc and only 50% from the free throw line.  They were also doomed by their season high 19 turnovers.  Ryan Boatright committed a team high 8 turnovers as he led UConn in scoring with 17 points.  The Huskies will need to keep a handle on the ball if they want to have a chance against the Longhorns.
