The last time the Texas Tech Red Raiders played the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the Cowboys ran away with the game and finished a 84-62 winner. Now they'll be facing off in the Big Twelve conference tournament with the winner going on to play the Kansas Jayhawks.
This will be a rematch of their Feb. 22 game. This was Marcus Smart's first game back after a three game suspension and he had a historical day in the Big 12. Smart finished the game with 16 points, three rebounds, 10 assists, six steals and two blocks. He was the first player in Big 12 history to finish a game with at least 16 points, 10 assists and six steals.
It was a relatively close game for most of the first half until the Cowboys got into a groove. Defense led the way and helped them take a 24-14 lead in the first half. Texas Tech closed the gap to within five in the first half but then Smart made a tough layup, stole the inbound pass, and scored again. The Cowboys went into the half up 34-25.
It was all Oklahoma State from that point on and the Cowboys cruised through the rest of the game. The Cowboys got help from Le'Bryan Nash with 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block. Markel Brown added 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block.
Texas Tech was led by Jordan Tolbert with 15 points, 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
