The Stanford Cardinal and the UNLV Runnin' Rebels will both be trying to keep their perfect records intact when they go up against each other on Friday.

On Sunday, Stanford was able to improve to 2-0 on the season by defeating South Dakota 84-73 on their home court. They made 38 of their 46 free throws in that win, and they ended up with a 42-29 rebounding advantage.

Through their first two games, the Cardinal have scored 79 points per game, but they are only averaging three steals per game as a team. Senior center has had a good start to the season by averaging a team-high 20 points with eight rebounds and two blocks per game. Guard Chasson Randle is averaging 17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and three assists per game for Stanford.

On Sunday, UNLV only made 36.8 percent of their shots against Sam Houston State, but they were still able to come away with a 59-57 home win. Sam Houston state ended up with a 53-39 rebounding advantage in that game, but UNLV was able to force 15 turnovers.

UNLV has one of the best blocking teams in the nation through two games by blocking 11 shots per game. Freshman forward Goodluck Okonoboh has had a good start to his college career by averaging five points, 7.5 rebounds and a team-best 6.5 blocks per game. Their top scorer has been freshman guard Rashad Vaughn, who is averaging 22 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
