The struggling Southern Jaguars will have a tough task on their hands when they visit the #14 Iowa State Cyclones on Sunday night. The Jaguars have yet to win a road game this season, while the Cyclones have gone 5-0 on their home floor.
On Wednesday night, Southern scored just 23 first-half points against Minnesota and ended up being routed 85-57 on the road. They only made 40 percent of their shots in that loss while also finishing with 20 team turnovers.
The Jaguars are currently one of the bottom 15 scoring teams in the country by only averaging 56.5 points per game. Senior guard Tre Lynch is the team's leading scorer right now with 12.8 points per game, while freshman forward Jared Sam is the leading rebounder with 4.1 boards per game.
On Friday night, Iowa State picked up their fourth win in a row when they easily beat in-state rival Iowa 90-75 on the road. They were able to make 12 of their 27 three-pointers in that win and finished with a 53.1 field goal percentage.
Through eight games, the Cyclones are near the top of the country in scoring, assists and field goal percentage. Their leading scorer so far this season has been junior forward Georges Niang, who is now averaging 17.8 points per game while making over 50 percent of his shot attempts.
