The Santa Clara Broncos will go on the road to face the sharpshooting #19 Michigan State Spartans on Monday night.

Santa Clara lost their first game of the year on Wednesday night when they were beaten 60-54 by Utah State on the road. They did not shoot well from beyond the arc in that loss, making just six of their 24 three-point attempts.

Santa Clara's defense is one of the worst in the country in steals right now with just 4.3 per game. Guard Brandon Clark has been their top player through three games by averaging a team-high 20.3 points and six assists per game. Freshman center Emmanuel Ndumanya has only played 15 minutes per game, but he still leads the team in rebounding with seven per game.

Michigan State's offense was very solid in their 87-52 win over Loyola (IL) on Friday night. They made nine of their 18 three-pointers and ended up shooting 63.2 percent overall.

Through three games, the Spartans are in the top 15 in the country in assists by dishing out 20 helpers per game. Senior guard Travis Trice has had a very good start to the season by averaging a team-high 17.7 points and 6.7 assists per game. Senior forward Branden Dawson has scored 15 points per game this year and leads the team in rebounds with eight per game.
