The 13 seed New Mexico State Aztecs (26-9, 12-4 WAC) are taking on the 4 seed San Diego State Aggies (29-4, 16-2 MW) in Spokane on Thursday. It was a great push by New Mexico State to get into the tournament this year. Sim Bhullar had 14 points and nine rebounds to contribute to a New Mexico State win against Idaho, 77-55 last week. That makes it their third straight Western Athletic Conference title.

With the Aztecs coming off of a disappointing loss to the New Mexico Lobos, the Aztecs are ready to get that taste out of their mouths. Despite their loss, the Aztecs have what it takes to make a run in the tournament, and their tight defense might prove to be too much for the Aggies to score. Good looks will be hard to find and keeping turnovers to a minimum will be key if the Aggies want to get a win against the Aztecs. The Aggies will have to play against the Aztec's high scorers Xavier Thames and Winston Shepard and they will also see the likes of tough rebounder Josh Davis.

That's not to say that New Mexico doesn't have weapons of their own. Bhullar is a seven-footer who is always in the paint, and Daniel Mulings and DK Eldrige will also be a threat on the court for the Aggies. This could be a hard game to predict and even though it's a number 4 seed playing a number 13 seed, a few factors could throw the game in any direction.
