Tuesday night, the Sacred Heart Pioneers will do battle against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. 

The Sacred Heart Pioneers beat the New Hampshire Wildcats 73 - 60 on Saturday for their 2nd victory in a row.  Points were hard to come by for both teams early on as it seemed like the ball just wouldn’t go in the hoop.  The lead went back and forth between Sacred Heart and New Hampshire but a late run by the Pioneers gave them a 10 point lead at the half.  New Hampshire tried to mount a comeback in the 2nd half but they just couldn’t get over the hump against Sacred Heart.  Cane Broome tied a career high with 25 points to pace the Pioneers as they shot 52% overall. If the Pioneers can bring the same offense against the Scarlet Knights, a 3rd straight win could be there for the taking.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights saw their 2 game win streak end with a 73 – 68 loss to the St. Francis Red Flash on Saturday.  The Red Flash started the game hot but the Scarlet Knights pushed back to take control.  But Rutgers couldn’t hold back St. Francis and the Rutgers lead that was once double digits fell to just 5 at the half.  The Red Flash made the Scarlet Knight work hard in the 2nd half and Rutgers just couldn’t keep up.  Rutgers shot 42% overall and 55% from 3 point distance as they were led by Kadeem Jack’s 20 points.  The Scarlet Knights will need a complete game against the Pioneers if they want to get back on the winning side of the scoreboard.
