Thursday afternoon, Nittany Lions of Penn State will face the 49ers of Charlotte.

The 2 -0 Penn State Nittany Lions had no problem getting past the Fordham Rams for a 73 -54 win in their last outing. As Fordham had trouble holding on to the ball in the early minutes of the game, Penn State took advantage. An early Penn State lead to an impressive 17 point advantage at the half. The 2 ^nd half featured more of what the 1^st half offered as Penn State opened up a huge lead that Fordham was never really able to cut into. Penn State also benefitted from a poor shooting night for the Rams as they were just 17 of 58 (29%) from the field. By comparison, the Nittany Lions shot 47% from the field as D.J. Newbill lead the way with 18 points. If Penn State outshoots and outrebounds their next opponents in the same way, a win is almost certain.

The 1 -0 Charlotte 49ers won their season opener against Elon Phoenix 73 - 60 on Sunday. Charlotte started strong and built a 36 -25 lead over Elon at the half but the Phoenix wouldn't go easily in the 2^nd half. Like the mythical bird that is their nickname, the Phoenix rose again in the 2 ^nd half but even though they got close, they couldn't find a way past the 49ers. The Phoenix were hampered by 31% shooting against the 50% shooting of the 49ers. Charlotte also shot 46% from beyond the arc. Led by 12 point nights from Pierria Henry and Braxton Oqbueze, Charlotte will need more great shooting if they want to go to 2 -0.
