After a tough loss in their first game of the season, Ole Miss Rebels will try to pick up their first victory when they face the Troy Trojans on Monday. Last year, the Rebels were able to easily beat the Trojans 69-54 on their home court.
Ole Miss had a poor shooting night in their opener against Charleston Southern on Friday and ended up being upset 66-65. They coughed the ball up 17 times in that loss and they were only able to make 30.2 percent of their shots.
One player who did play well for the Rebels in that loss against Charleston Southern was guard Martavious Newby, who made four of his five shots and finished with a team-high 14 points and seven boards. Senior forward M.J. Rhett also had a decent game by scoring 11 points and pulling down seven rebounds.
Troy didn't play the cleanest game in their opening matchup against Brewton Parker on Friday night, but they still came away with a comfortable 85-71 win. They finished that game with a team field goal percentage of 45.3 percent and they had a 44-35 rebounding advantage.
The Trojans' best player against Brewton Parker was guard Musa Abdul-Aleem, who came off of the bench to contribute 16 points, six rebounds and two assists. Sophomore guard Kelton Ford had 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals for Troy in that game.
