The Purdue Boilermakers will play the Ohio State Buckeyes on Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten Conference Tournament. Purdue will look to forget about the last time these two teams met up in which the Buckeyes took it to the Boilermakers by a score of 67-49. Lenzelle Smith Jr. led the way for the Buckeyes with 16 points, three rebounds and five assists. He had a stellar day from behind the arc as well going 4-for-7 on the night. LaQuinton Ross added 16 points, three rebounds and five assists in the winning effort.

Purdue jumped out to a 6-0 lead before the Buckeyes came back with a 10-0 run of their own. However, two of Ohio States big men got into foul trouble so they had to run a small lineup up against A.J. Hammons and the rest of the Boilermakers. By the end of the first, the Buckeyes were leading 31-25. In the second half, both teams went back and fourth for a while then Purdue went on a 9-2 run making the score 48-45. The Buckeyes were able to make the lead 56-45 with less than six minutes to go and they never looked back.

A.J. Hammons led the Boilermakers with 11 points, seven rebounds, an assist, a steal and three blocks. Kendall Stephens added 12 points and Rapheal Davis chipped in with 11 points and two rebounds.
