Tuesday night, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies will visit the Arizona Wildcats.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies come into this one after losing 87 – 61 to the Michigan State Spartans on Sunday night.  Oakland knew that if the sharp-shooting Michigan State team got off to a quick start, it would mean trouble.  But early on, the game was remarkably close.  The Spartans didn’t break out until late in the 1st half and by the break, the Golden Grizzlies were down by 13 points.  Behind that big lead, the Spartans just had to maintain their advantage for the rest of the way.  Poor shooting and turnovers didn’t help the Golden Grizzlies’ cause either.  Oakland was led by Dante Williams and his 15 points as the team shot just 39% compared to Michigan State’s 55%.  And Oakland turned the ball over 15 times.  That type of effort will not be enough if Oakland wants to compete with an Arizona team that is one of the best in the nation.

The #3 ranked Arizona Wildcats delivered a solid 80 - 53 beating to the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.  The Wolverines were able to keep pace with the Wildcats in the early minutes but it didn’t take long for the Arizona defense to clamp down and the offense to heat up.  At the half, Arizona was up by 11 and the rout was on.  Arizona could do nothing wrong in the 2nd half as Michigan could do nothing right.  The Wildcats shot 58% from the field as they were paced by Zak Irvin and his 14 point night.  The Wildcats were already known for their defense but now that they have shown some scoring prowess, they will be tough to beat.
