On Sunday afternoon, the Northern Kentucky Norse will face their second ranked team in three days when they go up against the #21 Nebraska Cornhuskers.
In their opening game on Friday, Northern Kentucky never really had a chance as they took a 62-31 loss against #3 Wisconsin. They only made 14 of their 53 field goal attempts in that losing effort, and they only ended up making on free throw.
Northern Kentucky's top scorer in that game against Wisconsin was forward Daniel Camps, who came off of their bench to score eight points on 4-of-6 shooting. Junior forward Jake Giesler had two points and a team-high six rebounds, while Jalen Billups came off the bench to contribute six points and a block.
Nebraska players and fans probably think they should have done better last season, but they did finish fourth in the Big Ten with an 11-7 record and they were 19-13 overall. Their season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they lost 74-60 to Baylor.
The Cornhuskers were solid on the defensive end of the court last year, giving up just 65.2 points per game. Junior forward Terran Petteway is once again expected to be their best player after averaging 18.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last season. Top assist man Shavon Shields will also be back after dishing out 5.8 assists per game last year.
