Saturday night, the New Mexico Lobos will square off against the New Mexico State Aggies.
The New Mexico Lobos had some early trouble in their Wednesday night game against the Central Arkansas Bears but the Lobos still came away with a 76 - 55 win. The Bears started the game on an 11 - 3 run that surprised the Lobos. Central Arkansas held the lead until the midway point of the half when the tide started turn. New Mexico took the lead and held off Central Arkansas for a 5 point lead at the half. The Lobos had to resist numerous comeback attempts by the Bears in the 2nd half but New Mexico finally put the game away for good in the final minutes. Deshawn Delaney led the Lobos with a 22 point effort as New Mexico shot 46% overall and 40% from 3-point distance. New Mexico's 4th straight win wasn't easy and a potential 5th straight win might not be easy either.
The New Mexico State Aggies dropped their 4th game in the last 5 on Wednesday night as they fell to the Baylor Bears 66 - 55. Baylor took control from the opening tip and New Mexico State had to play catch up the rest of the way. The teams went back and forth but the Bears had the 8 point advantage going into the locker rooms at the half. The Aggies cut the lead to just 2 points early in the 2nd half but the Bears never let them get that close for the rest of the game. New Mexico State shot 47% overall while holding Baylor to just 39% shooting but the Bears still came out on top. The Aggies were led by Remi Barry and his 14 points as they remained winless on the road this season. But New Mexico State is undefeated on their home court and that might be the advantage they need in Saturday's game.
