Sunday afternoon, the Morgan State Bears will take on the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The Morgan State Bears will come into this one after taking a 73 -69 loss to the Manhattan Jaspers on December 20^th. Manhattan took the early lead but the teams battled back and forth for most of the 1^st half. The Bears held a slim 33 -31 lead at the half. The 2^nd half was another furious battle between the teams as neither squad could hold an advantage for long. The Jaspers used the charity stripe to slip past the Bears in the final seconds of the game. Morgan State was led by Zech Smith and his 19 points as the Bears shot 48% overall. It's been a rough season so far for the Bears and their prospects against the Golden Eagles don't look good.

The Marquette Golden Eagles used a late rally to get past North Dakota 67 - 54 in their last game on December 22^nd. North Dakota gave Marquette some trouble early on and the Golden Eagles couldn't find a way to handle their opponents. By halftime, North Dakota was up 29 -24 and it seemed like an upset was in the making. The game was extremely tight in the opening minutes of the 2^nd half but by the midway point, Marquette had gained control. North Dakota had run out of steam and the Golden Eagles finished strong to escape with the win. JaJuan Johnson paced the Golden Eagles with 19 points as Marquette shot just 42% from the field and 23% from beyond the arc. Those numbers will have to improve even against a struggling team like Morgan State.
