The Montana State Bobcats will open their 2014 - 2015 season at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles against the UCLA Bruins. The Bobcats are coming off a 14-17 campaign of a season ago, including just 9 wins in the Big Sky. For UCLA, they are expected to be one of the contenders in the Pac-12 this season. UCLA went 28-9 a season ago, and finished behind Arizona in the conference standings.
The UCLA Bruins are looking for help in replacing top scorers Kyle Anderson and Jordan Adams from a season. The two scored over 32 points per game a season ago. Head coach Steve Alford will look at his son, sophomore Bryce Alford to run the point. Look for the point guard to score a little more this season as well, as last year he averaged just 8 points per game. The Bruins were eliminated in the Sweet 16 a season ago by the Florida Gators. The Bruins recorded tournament wins over Tulsa and Stephen F. Austin, following their Pac-12 tournament title.
For Montana State, they are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season of a year ago. The Bobcats are welcoming their top scorer Flavien Davis back. Last season he scored 12.5 points per game. As a team, Montana State scored 68 points per game. The Bobcats ranked near the bottom of all college basketball teams in both rebounds per game and assists per game. The Bobcats averaged 31.2 rebounds and 10.5 assists per game.
