Monday night, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will take on the Auburn Tigers. 

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders beat the Tennessee State Tigers 65 - 47 back on December 21st for their 2nd straight win.   The Bluer Raiders put the game out of reach early behind an 18 – 0 run to start the game.  The Tigers eventually started putting points on the board but they were still down 36 – 23 at the half. Tennessee State tried to climb back into the game during the 2nd half but they were just too far behind to make a dent in the Middle Tennessee lead.  The Blue Raiders shot just 41% overall and 28% from beyond the arc as they were led by Jacquez Rozier and his career high 18 points.  Middle Tennessee will definitely not be able to open as strong against Auburn and they will need to get that shooting percentage up if they want a chance to steal a win. 

The Auburn Tigers made it 3 wins in a row on December 23rd after they slipped past the Texas Southern Tigers 61 – 60.  Auburn had their hands full early on as Texas Southern pushed them as much as possible.  The missed shots and turnovers by Auburn didn’t help either.  But Texas Southern didn’t take full advantage of their opportunities and they were only up by a point at halftime.  Texas Southern did take advantage in the 2nd half as they opened up an 11 point lead.  But Auburn wasn’t done yet as they mounted a late rally that got them the lead with just seconds left.  A missed Texas Southern 3-pointer to close the game allowed Auburn to escape.  Auburn shot just 35% from the field and 28% from 3-point distance as KT Harrell led the way with 14 points.  If Auburn isn’t more careful with the ball, they could become the victim of an upset at the hands of Middle Tennessee State.
