On Monday night, the Miami Hurricanes will have their first true test of the season when they face the #7 Florida Gators.

Miami outscored Howard 45-21 in the first half of their game on Friday night, which helped them roll to an easy 84-49 win in their opener. The Hurricanes' defense was excellent in that game, holding Howard to a 28.6 percent field goal percentage and forcing them into committing 17 turnovers.

In that game against Howard, Hurricanes guard Sheldon McClellan made eight of his 12 shots and finished with 19 points and four rebounds. Center Tonye Jekiri had six points and a game-high 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

On Friday night, Florida got out to a big lead early in their opening game against William & Mary and came away with a 68-45 victory. They had a 39-31 rebounding advantage in that win, and they were also able to steal the ball eight times. Their offense had a 47.2 percent field goal percentage and they were able to make 12 of their 15 free throws.

Gators forward Dorian Finney-Smith was 5-for-9 from the field in that game, finishing with a game-high 15 points with five rebounds. Freshman guard Chris Chiozza was only able to score four points off of the bench for Florida, but he also had three assists, two rebounds and three steals.
