Thursday night, the LSU Tigers will face the UAB Blazers.

The LSU Tigers barely squeaked by the Sam Houston Bearkats on Saturday night as they took a 76 - 67 victory.  The combination of nearly 2 weeks between games and a determined Sam Houston team made this game closer than expected.  The game went back and forth in the 1st half with LSU gaining the upper hand late to take just a 3 point lead into the locker room at the half.  The Bearkats kept up the pressure in the 2nd half and it wasn’t until the closing minutes of the game that the Tigers found a way to shut down the Bearkats once and for all.  LSU shot 42% overall as they were led by Jordan Mickey and his 21 point night.  The Tigers should have no trouble getting past the Blazers but one never knows which direction a game may take.

The UAB Blazers picked up a hard fought win of their own in their Sunday night game as they outlasted the UNC-Asheville Bulldogs 79 – 71.  UAB opened up with an 11 - 2 run in the 1st half and they held on for a 6 point advantage going into the half.  The Bulldogs kept the Blazers from pulling away for most of the 2nd half but UAB maintained their lead throughout to hold on for the win.  The Blazers were paced by Robert Brown and his 19 points as UAB shot 41% from the field.  UAB will have to expect another tough game from their next opponent and they will need their best efforts to have a chance at a victory.
