On Thursday, the 5 seed Kansas State Wildcats will be facing off with the 4 seed Iowa State Cyclones in the Big 12 Conference Tournament quarterfinals. These two teams last played on March 1 where Kansas State downed the 15th ranked Iowa State Cyclones by a score of 80-73.
Before this game, Iowa State was on four game win streak. Kansas State had a streak of their own they wanted to keep in place. The Wildcats had won 14 straight games at Bramlage Coliseum and made it 15 after this game. Kansas State was led by D.J. Johnson with 12 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal. The Wildcats took a 39-34 lead into the half. In the second half, the Cyclones were able to take their first lead in almost 23 minutes but it was short lived. Spradling finished the game with eight points. Also helping the cause was Thomas Gipson with 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
Iowa State's Melvin Ejim and DeAndre Kane did all they could to keep the Cyclones alive in this one but other than these two, the rest of the team shot 17 percent on the night. Ejim finished the game with 30 points, 16 rebounds, two steals and a block and Kane finished with 24 points, eight rebounds, six assists and 2 steals on the night. It was a tough loss for the Cyclones but they'll be looking for some revenge come Thursday night.
