The college basketball season is underway and on Saturday the Hillsdale College Chargers will play at Crisler Arena against the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan, of course, is one of the favorites at the top of the Big Ten Conference. The Wolverines won 28 games a season ago, but failed to reach the Final Four for back-to-back seasons. Hillsdale is led by head coach John Tharp and led the Chargers to 18 wins a season ago. The Chargers are a Division 2 school in the Great Lakes Conference.
The Chargers have five seniors on their roster. A season ago, Hillsdale was led in scoring by Tim Dezelski. In 27 games, he scored nearly 23 points per game. The Chargers also saw Dezelski make 45 three point shots and 106 free throws. He also recorded 107 assists. He graduated a season ago leaving Kyle Cooper as the lead returning scorer. Cooper scored 13.5 points and grabbed over 6 rebounds per game.
The Michigan Wolverines will welcome Spike Albrecht, Zak Irvin, Caris LeVert and Max Bielfeldt back from some playing time of a season ago. The Wolverines boast 7 freshmen on their roster, with no seniors, and just 2 juniors. A season ago, the Wolverines used 17.5 points per game from Nik Stauskas, who now plays for the Sacramento Kings. Chris LeVert is the lead returning scorer for Michigan; with 13.3 per game.
