On Monday night, the Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on the San Diego Toreros.

 The Gonzaga Bulldogs pulled out their 5th straight victory Saturday night as they beat the BYU Cougars 87 – 80.  Gonzaga jumped out to a 14 - 4 lead to open things up but they allowed BYU to get back into the game.  By halftime it was a 43 -43 score and it was anybody’s game.  BYU took control early in the 2nd half but Gonzaga battled back and gained the advantage as the game drew to a close.  BYU gave their best effort but time simply ran out on them.  The Bulldogs were led by Kyle Wiltjer’s 24 points as they shot 49% overall.  Gonzaga should have an easier time of things against San Diego but they shouldn’t take a possible 6th straight win for granted.

The San Diego Toreros took a heartbreaker of a loss on Saturday night as they were edged by the Portland Pilots 61 -58.  A 10 -2 run gave San Diego the early lead but Portland didn’t just sit there and take it. The Pilots fought back and they held a 2 point lead at halftime. Portland was in control in the early stages of the 2nd half but as the game went on, it went back and forth.  San Diego had the lead with about a minute left to go but Portland made their last shots as the Toreros missed theirs and that made the difference.  The Toreros shot just 37% from the field as they were led by Christopher Anderson’s 14 points. The loss broke a 3 game win streak for the Toreros and they will need a better effort if they want to start a new win streak on Monday.
