One of the West Bracket's most intriguing matchups for the 2014 NCAA tournament is the 8/9 matchup between Gonzaga and Oklahoma State. Oddsmakers have actually made the 9 seeded Cowboys as slight 2 point favorites with a majority of early public money liking Oklahoma State as well. There was a time when Gonzaga (28-6) was the belle of the NCAA ball but after making their 16th straight appearance in 2014 they've become an old familiar face that is now expected to get out of at least the first round.

The Bulldogs have accomplished that in their last 5 postseason appearances before falling in the round of 32 for four straight years. Gonzaga posted half their losses on the season in the last 10 games but regrouped to win the WCC tourney, going 2-1 against the spread. The Bulldogs are led by a trio of upperclassmen with postseason experience in Sam Dower (15ppg), Kevin Pangos (14.1ppg), and David Stockton, who leads the 'Zags in steals and assists.

The Cowboys (21-12) played a tougher schedule this season than Gonzaga but were a model of inconsistency during the course of the year. Their 2014 schedule featured a 7 game losing streak from late January to early February followed by back to back wins over tournament teams Kansas and Kansas State down the stretch. Marcus Smart is the household name for OK State that will look to have a solid tournament and regain his former top 5 NBA prospect status.
