Tuesday night, the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles will face the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles lost their 2^nd straight contest on Sunday afternoon after they took a 71 - 57 defeat at the hands of the Xavier Musketeers. The Eagles made a game of it early on but they couldn't find a way past the Musketeers. As the half drew to a close, Xavier began to impose their will on Florida Gulf Coast. By halftime, the Eagles were down by 14 points and things didn't look too good for them. Florida Gulf Coast managed to cut the lead to 9 points midway through the 2^nd half but Xavier quickly shut down any chances of a rally as they reestablished their double digit lead. The Eagles hit just 37% of their shots as they were led by Bernard Thompson and Julian DeBose, who each scored 17 points. Without better shooting, a 3^rd loss in a row is a distinct possibility for the Eagles.

The Pittsburgh Panthers ran over the Holy Cross Crusaders 58 - 39 for their 5^th win in a row back on December 23^rd. The Crusaders stayed step for step with the Panthers in the early going but things quickly changed for the worse for Holy Cross. Pitt went on a 15 -0 run midway through the 1^st half to break the game wide open. At the half, the Panthers were up 27 - 14 and they weren't finished. Pitt put together a 16 -2 run early in the 2^nd half to put the game away for good and the panthers basically coasted for the rest of the way. Jamel Artis led the way for the Panthers with 13 points as Pitt shot just 42% from the field. If the Panthers start strong on Tuesday night, they should have no trouble getting their 6 ^th straight victory.
