Saturday afternoon, the Davidson Wildcats will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Both teams will bring 2 -0 records to this game.

The Davidson Wildcats should come into this one with plenty of rest.  In their last game on Tuesday night, they beat the Campbell Camels 86 – 51.   The last few years have seen the basketball program at the tiny college rise to prominence in the college basketball world and they showed why in their game against Campbell.  The Wildcats scored the first basket of the game and they never looked back.  At the half, Davidson was up 43 - 23 and they cruised for the rest of the game as Campbell turned the ball over frequently and made things easier for the Wildcats.  Jake Belford led Davidson with a career high 20 points as the Wildcats shot 56% from the field and 47% from beyond the arc.  That type of shooting will be needed as they face one of college basketball’s marquee programs.

The North Carolina Tar Heels should also come into this one well rested since their last game was almost a week ago.  Last Sunday, the Tar Heels had no problem beating the Robert Morris Colonials 103 – 59.  No one really gave the Colonials a chance in this one and that would prove to be an understatement.  North Carolina set the pace early on and took a 53 – 35 lead into the locker room at the half.  In the 2nd half, they continued to slice through Robert Morris to seal the win.  North Carolina shot 50% from the field but just 25% from 3-point range as they were led by Brice Johnson and his 23 point effort.   North Carolina will need to get as many buckets as possible to counter a Davidson team that knows how to score.
