Monday night, the Coppin State Eagles will face the Michigan Wolverines.

The Coppin State Eagles took a 106 – 85 beating by the Connecticut Huskies back on December 14th. The Huskies were looking for a turnaround and they got their opportunity against the Eagles. UConn opened up on a 13 – 2 run and they just didn’t let up on Coppin State.  By halftime, the Huskies were up 51 – 39 and they weren’t finished.  Coppin State never had a chance in the 2nd half as the deficit was too much to surmount.  Coppin State shot 45% overall and 46% from 3 point distance as they were led by Arnold Fripp and his 25 point effort.  Unfortunately for the Eagles, they will have to face a Wolverines team looking for redemption after a slide of their own. 

The Michigan Wolverines dropped their 4th straight game on Saturday as they fell to the SMU Mustangs 62 – 51.  SMU Head coach Larry Brown had his team ready to play early as they quickly took control of the game.  Michigan managed to recover and make it just a 3 point game at the half but they were clearly out of sorts.  SMU resumed their push early in the 2nd half but Michigan rallied again.  But SMU went on a late run that sealed Michigan’s fate.  The Wolverines were led by Zak Irvin and his 17 points as Michigan shot just 31% overall and 22% from 3 point land.  Michigan will need to find a way to get back in the swing of things and Coppin State might be the team to do it against.
