The Memphis Tigers will face the Connecticut Huskies on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The last time these two teams met up, the Huskies were winners by a score of 86-81 in an overtime thriller. Shabazz Napier went off for 34 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Ryan Boatright added 21 points, six assists and two steals on the night. The two combined for 20-24 from the charity stripe.

Memphis was led by Joe Jackson who tallied 24 points, four rebounds, seven assists and a steal. Geron Johnson also contributed in the loss with 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists. He also added four turnovers which was one of the story lines of the night. Memphis had 18 turnovers to UConn's six.

In regulation, Connecticut was down three with less than a minute to go when Napier took the game into his hands. Napier drove to the basket and got fouled while making the shot. He then sank the free throw to send this game into overtime. The game was tied 69-69 at the end of regulation. The Huskies came out swinging and went on a 7-2 run right away. Memphis was able to close the game to two. Napier came back down and hit a 3-pointer and the Huskies finished it from there.
