Thursday night, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will take on the Ole Miss Rebels.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers earned their 4th straight victory on Sunday after defeating the South Carolina State Bulldogs by the score of 57 - 43.  The Chanticleers opened strong and behind solid offense and a stifling defense, they took control.  At the half, Coastal Carolina was up 35 – 22 but in the 2nd half, the scoring would slow down for the Chanticleers.   Coastal Carolina would have to rely on their defense in the 2nd half.    The Chanticleers were led by Warren Gillis and his 13 point effort as Coastal Carolina shot just 38% from the field and 20% from the distance.   Even with their solid defense, the Chanticleers will need more scoring if they want to extend their win streak with a victory over the Rebels.

The Ole Miss Rebels will come into this one after dropping their last game on Saturday.  In that game, the Rebels fell to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers 81 – 74.  The game was close in the early going but the Rebels stretched out midway through the 1st half.  By the break, Ole Miss was up by 13 points and the lead seemed secure.  But it wasn’t.  In the 2nd half, Western Kentucky slowly chipped away at the lead.  With 7 minutes left, the Hilltoppers were in control and they stayed there for the win.  Ole Miss shot just 38% from the field as they were led by Stefan Moody’s 25 points.   If the Rebels blow a lead late against the Chanticleers, they might suffer the same fate that they did against the Hilltoppers.
