Friday night, the Clemson Tigers will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. 

The Clemson Tigers brushed aside the Auburn Tigers on Sunday afternoon to take a 72 - 61 victory.  Auburn opened the game with a 5 -0 run but Clemson recovered and made the game close for most of the 1st half.  As the half drew to a close, Clemson stretched out their lead a little and settled for a 6 point advantage at the half.  Auburn didn’t make things easy for Clemson in the 2nd half as they kept Clemson from building a huge lead.  It would take until the final minutes of the game for Clemson to build a secure lead.  Clemson shot just 44% overall and 14% from beyond the arc but they held Auburn to 38% and 29% respectively.  Rod Hall had a career high 20 points to lead Clemson.  The Tigers will try to stretch their win streak to 3 as they try to slow down a streaking Gamecocks team.

The South Carolina Gamecocks got their 3rd win in a row as they beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys 75 – 49 back on December 6th.  Oklahoma State provided some competition for South Carolina early on and even though the Gamecocks held an 8 point lead at the half, it didn’t seem secure.  In the 2nd half, the Cowboys stayed close to the Gamecocks but midway through the half, South Carolina started to pull away.  The Gamecocks built a double-digit lead that they held for the rest of the way.  Duane Notice led the way for the Gamecocks with his 20 point effort as South Carolina shot just 43% from the field.   Those shooting numbers will have to get better if the Gamecocks want to prevent the Tigers from getting a 3rd straight win.
