The Cincinnati Bearcats will get to see how their solid defense can do against the high-scoring offense of the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. During the 2013-14 season, the Bearcats easily defeated the Cornhuskers 74-59 at home.

Last Tuesday, Cincinnati outscored Stony Brook 38-23 in the first half and went on to win 78-52 at home. They made 52.7 percent of their shots in that win while only turning the ball over eight times.

The Bearcats haven't gotten going yet on offense this season, but their defense has done well to hold opposing offenses to just 52.3 points per game. Junior forward Octavius Ellis has had an all-around solid start to the season by averaging 9.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. Freshman forward Gary Clark is their best rebounder by pulling down 8.1 boards per game.

Nebraska lost their second consecutive game on Wednesday night when they were upset 74-73 by Incarnate Word. The Cornhuskers did finish with a 36-26 rebounding advantage in that game, but their offense only ended up making 42.3 percent of their shots.

Through eight games, the Cornhuskers have been able to average 72.1 points per game while giving up 64.8 points per game. Junior forward Shavon Shields has been solid so far this season by averaging 18.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Forward Terran Petteway is their top scorer by averaging 20.6 points per game.
