Sunday afternoon, the North Carolina-Charlotte 49ers will take on the George Washington Colonials. 

The North Carolina-Charlotte 49ers faced a tough Davidson Wildcats team Wednesday night and they ended up losing that game 92 - 86. The 49ers started out well but the Wildcats took control and brushed back all Charlotte attempts to regain the lead.  At the break, Davidson was up 45 – 38 but Charlotte still had a chance. Those chances basically ended when Davidson opened the 2nd half with a 3-pointer.  It signaled that the Wildcats weren’t going to surrender the lead again and they didn’t.  Charlotte was led by Willie Clayton and his 17 points as they shot 50% from the field and 28% from 3-point range but Davidson shot 58% and 46% respectively.   Charlotte will have another tough team next on tap as they will have a task trying to contain George Washington.

The George Washington Colonials had their way with the UMBC Retrievers en route to an 83 – 60 victory on Thursday night.  The Colonials took over the game early but the Retrievers briefly challenged them in the 1st half.  But, the resistance was put down quickly and George Washington went into the break up by a score of 46 - 34.  UMBC came close a few times in the 2nd half but they just couldn’t get over the hump.  The Colonials were paced by Patricio Garino and his 23 point effort as they as they shot 44% overall.  If the Colonials take the 49ers lightly, they might not come away with the win that they are seeking.
