On Wednesday afternoon, the Butler Bulldogs will go up against the #7 Villanova Wildcats in a game between two very good defensive teams. Last season, the Wildcats were able to win both of their games against the Bulldogs, though both were tight games.

This past Sunday, Butler held Belmont to just 18 second-half points to help them pull off a 67-56 home win. Butler had a 38-21 rebounding advantage in that win and were able to force Belmont into committing 15 turnovers.

The Bulldogs have been one of the better defensive teams in the league this season by giving up just 56.2 points per game. Junior guard Kellen Dunham has had a very good start to the campaign by averaging a team-high 16.6 points per game while hitting 45.7 percent of his three-point attempts.

Villanova remained undefeated last week by easily beating N.J.I.T. 92-67 at home. The Wildcats made nearly 55 percent of their shots from the field in that win and they only ended up turning the ball over five times.

Through 12 games, the Wildcats have been able to score 77.9 points per game while holding opposing offenses to just 59.3 points per game. Sophomore forward Josh Hart has made 58.3 percent of his shots and is averaging 10.8 points per game, while junior forward Daniel Ochefu currently leads Villanova in rebounding with 7.4 boards per game.
