Wednesday afternoon, the Butler Bulldogs will face the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The Butler Bulldogs had no trouble in their last game as they handed the Loyola Greyhounds an 80 – 39 beating. The Greyhounds were in the game early but the Bulldogs broke the game open in the 1st half and took a 42 – 18 lead at the half. The Greyhounds never recovered and the Bulldogs continued their run in the 2nd half. Butler shot 53% overall and 56% from a distance. By contrast, the Greyhounds shot 29% and 25% respectively. But Butler will have to plan on North Carolina shooting at a much higher percentage and pressing them more than Loyola did.
The North Carolina Tar Heels had a slightly better opponent than Butler did in their last game but the Tar Heels still came away with the win. On last Saturday afternoon, the Tar Heels defeated the Davidson Wildcats 90 - 72. The still undefeated Tar Heels used their size advantage to out muscle the smaller Wildcats and that helped North Carolina take a 46 - 34 lead at the half. But Davidson still hung on and tried to challenge North Carolina in the 2nd half. The Wildcats were unsuccessful due to the fact that the Tar Heels shot 47% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc while Davidson shot just 33% and 30% respectively. The Tar Heels will more than likely face better shooting from the Bulldogs and they will need to clamp down again if they want to go to 4 - 0.
