Early Friday morning, the Baylor Bears will face the Memphis Tigers.

The Baylor Bears turned in a solid performance as they beat the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 67 -51 on Monday night. The Lumberjacks took a slight lead early on but the Bears took over and led for a good portion of the 1^st half. The Lumberjacks mad a game of it at times but were still down by 11 by the end of the 1^st half. In the 2^nd half, the Lumberjacks could barely keep the deficit below double digits as the Bears kept up the scoring charge. Baylor's Royce O'Neale led the way for the Bears with 19 points and a career high 14 rebounds but Baylor shot just 43% overall even thought they shot 46% from 3-point range. Baylor can expect a lot more competition from the Memphis Tigers though.

The Memphis Tigers shook off a season opening loss as they got their first win of the year in a 77 - 49 victory over the Prairie View Panthers. The Panthers were just an evening meal for the Tigers as Memphis opened the game on a 15 -2 run and never looked back. It was a 38 - 23 game at the half and Memphis wasn't finished harassing Prairie View. The Panthers missed shots and turned the ball over frequently in the 2^nd half. The Tigers shot 50% from the field as they were led by Shaq Goodwin and his 16 points off the bench. The lost right out of the gate may have prompted a little more focus from the Tigers and that won't be a good thing for Baylor.
