Monday night, the Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions will take on the Stanford Cardinal.

The Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions fell to the Abilene Christian Wildcats 69 - 61 on December 23rd.  The Golden Lions were in the game early on but they allowed the Wildcats to open things up as the game went on.  By the half, the Golden Lions were down by 12 points.  The 2nd half wasn’t much better for Arkansas Pine bluff as they just couldn’t find a way to get past Abilene Christian even though they briefly took the lead late before giving it up.  The Golden Lions shot 37% overall as they were led by Tevin Hammond’s 20 point effort.  Even if they play their absolute best, the Golden Lions will have a tall task ahead of them as they face the Cardinal.

The Stanford Cardinal needed overtime in their December 23rd game but they came away with a 74 - 71 upset victory over the top 10 ranked Texas Longhorns.  The Cardinal trailed the Longhorns for most of the 1st half but they never let the game get to far away from them. Stanford kept up the fight and at the half, it was a 31 - 31 game.  In the 2nd half, the Cardinal trailed again for most of the way but a late surge sent the game to overtime.  That’s when the Cardinal had just a little more left than the Longhorns.  A Chasson Randle jumper with just seconds left gave Stanford the lead and the upset win.  Anthony Brow paced the Cardinal with 25 points as Stanford shot 43% overall and 44% from the distance.   Even if they play their worst, Stanford should have no trouble with Arkansas Pine Bluff.
