Friday night, the Arizona Wildcats will visit the UTEP Miners.

The Arizona Wildcats easily took care of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies 101 - 64 on Tuesday night.  Arizona opened the game on a 24 - 3 run that quickly turned the game into a rout.   By halftime, the Wildcats were comfortably ahead 45 – 25.   The beating would continue in the 2nd half as the Golden Grizzlies had no answer for the Wildcats.  Arizona held Oakland to just 35% shooting overall.  The Wildcats shot 55% overall as they were paced by Stanley Johnson and his season high 18 points.  While the #3 Wildcats faced little opposition from the Golden Grizzlies, they will have a harder time with the Miners.  Arizona will be playing their first game on the road against a team that is undefeated at home.

The UTEP Miners ran over the Southeastern Louisiana Lions 80 - 62 on Tuesday night. The Lions stayed close to the Miners in the beginning of the game but they couldn’t keep up as the half went on.  By the break, the Miners had built an 11 point lead.  UTEP continued to pour it on in the 2nd half as Southeastern Louisiana struggled to slow down the onslaught.  The Miners were paced by Vince Hunter’s career high 26 points as they shot 57% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc.  UTEP will need the same type of intensity if they want to knock off an undefeated, top ranked Arizona team and maintain their own home win streak.
