Tuesday night, the Arizona State Sun Devils will face the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The Arizona State Sun Devils needed a late rally to take an 81 – 74 victory over the Pepperdine Waves on Saturday afternoon.  Pepperdine jumped out to the early lead and never trailed in the 1st half as they took a slight 31 - 29 lead at the half.  Even after the break, the Sun Devils couldn’t find a way to get past the Waves.  But midway through the 2nd half, Arizona State put together a 15 -0 run that broke the game open and put them up by 7.  The Sun Devils held off a Waves push late to seal the win.  Arizona State shot 41% overall as they were led by Shaquielle McKissic and his 22 point effort.  If the Sun Devils can get off to a better start against Marquette, they should have no trouble picking up the win.

The Marquette Golden Eagles ended up on the losing end of the scoreboard in their last game on December 6th as they took a 49 -38 loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin led most of the 1st half against their in-state rivals but they didn’t really pull away until late in the half.  At the break, the Badgers held a 10 point advantage and that seemed like more than enough in the low scoring affair.  Marquette was able to cut the lead to 3 points a few times in the 2nd half but they were never able to get past Wisconsin.  Both teams shot poorly as Marquette shot just 38% compared to 32% for Wisconsin.  The Golden Eagles were led by Matt Carlino’s 18 points.  Marquette will need a better effort all around if they want to get past Arizona State.
