Wednesday afternoon, the Air Force Falcons will take on the San Diego State Aztecs.

The Air Force Falcons squeaked out a 66 - 65 overtime victory over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks back on December 22nd.  Throughout the entire 1st half, the teams traded leads and neither Air Force nor Jacksonville State could take control of the game.  The Falcons managed to take a slim 2 point lead at the half.  The Gamecocks threatened the Falcons’ advantage  through most of the in the 2nd half and with just seconds left, Jacksonville State made the basket that would send the game to overtime.  In OT the battle resumed but this time, Air Force held off Jacksonville State long enough to take the win.  The Falcons shot 48% overall and 43% from 3-point distance as they were led by Max Yon’s 16 point’s.   If Air Force wants to end San Diego State’s undefeated run at home, they will need to get some separation early to avoid another close game.

The San Diego State Aztecs picked up their 3rd win in a row on Saturday when they beat the San Diego Christian Hawks 72 – 50.  The Hawks kept the game close early on in the 1st half but as time went on, the Aztecs began to pull away.  At the half, San Diego State was up by 18 and they continued the barrage in the 2nd half.  San Diego Christian never managed to cut into the double digit advantage in the 2nd half.   The Aztecs were paced by Winston Shepard and his 12 points as San Diego State just 44% from the field and 61% from the free throw line.  If the Aztecs want to stay undefeated at home, they will need better shooting, especially from the free throw line.
