It will be a battle between last place and first place in the ACC this Tuesday night when the Boston College Eagles try and hand the Miami Hurricanes their first conference loss of the season. This clash is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast on ESPN3.
Boston College just snapped a five-game skid in the ACC that included a one-point loss to Miami on Jan.16 with a 75-68 victory over Clemson this past Saturday as a 1.5-point home favorite. It was just its second conference win of the year, and it brought the Eagles one step closer to a .500 record overall at 10-11 straight-up (9-6-2 against the spread).
The Hurricanes improved to a perfect 8-0 SU in ACC play this past Saturday with a thrilling 79-78 victory over North Carolina State in a game that closed as a “pick”. Miami is now 17-3 SU this season and a very profitable 13-4 ATS. The total has gone “over” in three of its last four games.
Boston College at Miami Betting Storylines
The Eagles have had a difficult time competing in the ACC this season behind an offense that is averaging 68.3 points a game while shooting just 43.7 percent from the field. They have scored 70 points or more just once in their last five games while allowing a total of 67.8 points during the same stretch. Boston College has also been dominated under the boards with an average of only 32.5 rebounds a game.
The few rays of hope for this matchup are Ryan Anderson and Olivier Hanlan. Anderson leads the team with 16.2 points and 8.7 rebounds while Hanlan is adding 13.7 points and 4.3 boards a game. Both Joe Rahon and Lonnie Jackson are averaging over 10 points a game, but the starting five have received little help on the scoreboard from a mediocre bench.
Miami started catching everyone’s attention in the conference when it hammered Duke at home by 27 points as a 2.5-point underdog back on Jan.23. Since then, the Hurricanes routed both Florida State and Virginia Tech before this past weekend’s close call against the Wolfpack. The team is averaging 69.5 points a game but has not scored less than 71 points in each of its last four games. It is shooting 45.3 percent from the field overall but 48.5 percent on its home court.
The Hurricanes have five players scoring in double figures led by Durand Scott’s 14 points a game. Kenny Kadji is a close second with 13.3 points, and Shane Larkin is also scoring over 13 points a game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three-point range.
Boston College at Miami NCAA Betting Odds and Trends
BetOnline has Miami as a 13-point home favorite over the Eagles with a total line at 128.5.
The Eagles are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 road games but 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a SU win. The total has gone over in 10 of their last 11 games on the road.
The Hurricanes are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games following a SU win and 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 conference games. The total has stayed under in five of their last seven home games.
Head-to-head in this series, the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings and the total has stayed under in four of the last five. Boston College is 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings but a healthy 7-3 ATS in its last 10 trips to Miami.
Boston College at Miami Picks and Betting Predictions
The Eagles almost pulled off an upset of Miami earlier this season as six-point underdogs at home, but it is highly doubtful they will be able to keep things close this time around on the road given the recent form of both teams. With a big showdown against North Carolina waiting in the wings for this weekend, Miami will not let its guard down on Tuesday night.
