The Arizona Wildcats and the Washington Huskies clash this Thursday night at the Alaska Airlines Arena with just one game separating the two teams in the current Pac-12 standings. The game is slated to tip off at 9 p.m. (ET), and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Arizona only has two straight-up losses this season, but both have come in conference play and as a favorite. The Wildcats are 17-2 SU on the year and 9-8 against the spread. They are 4-1 on the road but just 1-2 ATS in the last three games. The total has stayed “under” in four of their last six games overall.
The Huskies come in at 4-3 SU in the Pac-12 and 12-8 overall after three-straight losses to Utah, Oregon State and Oregon. They went 1-2 ATS during this skid to fall to 10-8 ATS this season. They are 7-4 SU (4-5 ATS) at home this season, and the total has stayed under in four of their last six games.
Arizona at Washington Betting Storylines
The trio of Mark Lyons, Solomon Hill and Nick Johnson have accounted for a good chunk of the production for Arizona this season. Lyons leads the team in scoring with 14.9 points a game, but Hill and Johnson are each averaging over 13 points a game. The team as a whole is averaging 75.5 points a game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range. It remains one of the better teams in the nation from the foul line with a 75.4 shooting percentage.
Defensively, the Wildcats are holding opponents to 62 points a game and less than 40 percent shooting from the floor. They are ranked 47th in the country in rebounds with 38.3 a game, with three different players averaging close to six boards a game.
Washington has four different players scoring in double-figures, but it will need a huge night from CJ Wilcox to have any shot at pulling off the upset. Wilcox leads the team in scoring with 19 points a game while shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc. Overall, the Huskies are averaging 69.4 points a game and shooting 44 percent from the floor.
In their last three games, they have given up an average of 76.3 points as compared to a season average of just 66.6 points so they are going to also have to find a way to tighten things up on defense to keep this game close. Washington has been able to hold its opponents to shooting 42.7 percent from the field at home this season, which could be a huge help if it can do that against the Wildcats.
Arizona at Washington College Basketball Betting Odds and Trends
BetOnline has Arizona as a five-point road favorite with the “over/under” line at 141.
The Wildcats are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 road games but just 2-6 ATS in their last eight conference games. The total has stayed under in six of their last seven games on the road.
The Huskies are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Pac-12 games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The total has gone “over” in four of their last five home games against a team with a winning record on the road.
Head-to-head, Washington has won five of the last six meetings SU and is 4-2 ATS. The total has gone over in three of the Huskies last four home games in this series.
Arizona at Washington Picks and Betting Predictions
Arizona has been a very streaky team ATS as a favorite this season, and this matchup sets up as another close call in the highly-competitive Pac-12. Look for the Wildcats to find a way to pull out the SU win on the road to reverse their current losing trend against the Huskies, but stick with Washington to still cover with the points in a close one.
