The Golden State Warriors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Warriors took control of the series on Sunday and are up 3-2. The opening line has the Warriors as 4.5 point favorites and the over/under is set at 195.
The Golden State Warriors are one win away from hoisting up the championship trophy by way of a 104-91 win on Sunday night. In Game 5, they were facing the "best player in the world" in LeBron James who was averaging 35.8 points per game, 12 rebounds per game and 8.3 assists per game in these NBA Finals. However, Stephen Curry and the Warriors weren't about to let this game slip out of their grips.
The first quarter started off as a back and fourth affair. James came out with a bit of a bounce in his step and seemed fresh coming off a two day break. Golden State was able to keep it tight and the first quarter ended 22-22. The second quarter continued to be a nail biter and ended with the score being 51-50 in favor of Golden State. James finished the half with 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Golden State started to open up the lead a bit in the third quarter by outscoring the Cavs 22-17 going into the fourth quarter. However, the game stayed tight throughout most of the fourth quarter and James and the Cavaliers took a one point lead with just over seven minutes left in the game. That would be the last time the Cavs had a lead in this one as Steph Curry took the game over and played like the MVP he is. Curry ended this game with 37 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. He also went 7 for 13 from behind the arc and went 4 for 4 from the free throw line.
Cleveland will be in desperation mode when the Warriors visit them on Tuesday night and they'll need to get more help from the other player on this team. James can't play much better than he is and if he doesn't get that help, they'll be waiting another year to get that elusive first championship trophy.
James ended the night with 40 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists and a steal in what was his 6th career triple double in the NBA Finals which counts as 2nd most all time.
