by Dave Schwab - 1/20/2014
Monday’s action in the NBA closes things out with an inter-conference battle between the Indiana Pacers and the Golden State Warriors at ORACLE Arena. This game is scheduled to tip off at 10:30 p.m. (ET), and it will be broadcast nationally on TNT.
Indiana ran its current winning streak to four games with Saturday’s 106-92 romp over the Los Angeles Clippers as a nine-point home favorite. The victory left it 32-7 straight up on the year while maintaining a 3.5-game lead over Miami in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers are also 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, and the total has gone “over” in their last three contests.
Golden State bounced back from a two-game skid with a 97-87 win over New Orleans as a 4.5-point road favorite this past Saturday night. It is now 26-16 SU with a 19-21-2 record ATS. The Warriors covered as favorites for the first time in their last five games, and the total stayed “under” the 204.5-point closing line against the Pelicans after going “over” in four of their previous six outings.
Indiana at Golden State Betting Storylines
Indiana continues to set the pace in the East with an 8-2 SU record in its last 10 games. The cracks in this team are few and far between, and it comes into this matchup as healthy as it has been all season long. The Pacers will never be described as one of the most explosive teams in the NBA with an average of just 98.1 points a game, but they are ranked 10th in the league in rebounds with 44.7, and they are holding opposing teams to 88.2 points a game, which is the lowest total in the NBA.
Balance is one of this team’s strong suits with six different players averaging at least nine points a game. Paul George continues to lead the way with 23.2 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from 3-point range. Lance Stephenson leads the team in assists with 5.2, and he is adding 13.9 points a game with Roy Hibbert pulling down 7.8 rebounds and averaging 12.2 points. David West (12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds) and George Hill (10.4 points and 3.3 assists) round out a highly-effective starting lineup that can beat you in a number of different ways.
The Warriors will never be described as a defensive juggernaut, but they are ranked 12th in the NBA in points allowed (99.4). This team’s primary strength is lighting up the scoreboard with an average of 103.9 points a game. They are shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from beyond the arc, which is the third-best shooting percentage in the league. When this team gets hot shooting 3s there is no defense out there that can slow it down.
The hottest hand on Golden State belongs to Stephen Curry. He leads the team in scoring with 23.5 points a game while hitting 44.2 percent of his shots from the floor and 38.7 percent from 3-point range. As deadly as he can be at times, Andre Igoudala is probably the team’s best pure shooter. He has started 30 games this season and is averaging 9.9 points while shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 43.2 percent from outside the perimeter. Andrew Bogut leads in rebounds (10.3), with David Lee a close second with 9.9 boards a game. Overall, the Warriors are ranked fifth in the league in rebounds with an average of 46.

Free NBA Picks: Indiana at Golden State Betting Predictions
The outcome of this matchup comes down to Indiana’s smothering defense against Golden State’s ability to shoot the ball. Look for the Pacers to contest as many of those shots as possible as they find a way to hold the Warriors in check just enough to grind out a tight SU victory on the road.
