The Washington Wizards will stay in Florida, after facing the Miami Heat last night, to challenge the Orlando Magic. The Magic got a day to rest after their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Orlando had their hands full trying to slow down Anthony Davis who was one block away from a triple-double. The Magic do not have to prepare for any player comparable to Anthony Davis in their upcoming game against the Wizards. Rookie point-guard Elfrid Payton showed promise in his NBA debut. He was playing in his hometown with family and friends in the stadium. Aaron Gordon, another Magic rookie, shot well against the Pelicans and hopes to have a repeat performance. The Magic have a fair shot at beating the Wizards as long as they limit offensive rebounds. If Channing Frye is available he will be a major contributor to controlling the boards for the Magic.
The Wizards have several offensively talented big men that could give the Magic some trouble. Unlike Anthony Davis for the Pelicans, Wizards’ bigs are not individual threats, but they are solid within the offensive system. However, several of the PF’s and C’s having lingering injuries and it is unknown who will be available to play against the Magic. In the backcourt, Wizards will be depending on playmaker John Wall and veteran talent Paul Pierce. Bradely Beal is likely to sit with a fractured wrist. It is currently unknown when he will return to the court. If the Wizards were healthy this game would likely be an easy win against the young Orlando Magic. Considering both teams’ current situation, this could be an interesting and closely fought match.
